Camp Hollywood – a Group Camp at Mount Keira
Content Manager at March 25th, 2014
In March the Group had their first ever Group Camp – the theme was “Camp Hollywood”.
For a couple of nights over 60 children and a dozen parents from the group enjoyed the wonderful guide campsite at Mount Keira, arguably one of the most beautiful camp sites in Australia.
The camp finished with a day trip to Jamberoo for many of the families.
We arrived at night and had to put many of the tents up in the dark
The first night was truly beautiful. Look at the southern cross in the sky. The lights in the distance are the moon rising and also the city lights of Wollongong. But we did get a bit of rain on the second night.
Ready for a big day of adventures
Look – no hands!
Pioneering is a very traditional Scout activity with ropes, poles and lashings
A great time had by all
Almost running over the gap
Section meeting before a hike up Mount Kiera
Mount Kiera walking trail
And then it started raining, so the leaders got out the super-slide and a great time was had by all
