Cuboree 2014 at Cataract Scout Camp
Posted by Content Manager at January 10th, 2014
Attendance at Cuboree is the highlight of the whole Cub experience. In January almost 20 cubs from the group joined cubs from some other local groups to form a composite group and attended Cuboree for five days. A fantastic time was had by all.
Let the photos tell the story.
The kids had a fantastic time, they all left the camp highly motivated to finish Cubs and then go to Scouts and to Jamoree in 2016 which they were promised would be bigger and better.
And behind the scenes – a tremendous amount of work, time and effort had been put into the organising of such a large event. The catering alone was staggering, there were almost 4,000 people on site for the camp. Some gigantic deliveries to Cataract included 11,000 hamburger buns, 600kg of stir fry beef, 2,526 loaves of bread, 30,000 pieces of fruit, 4,600 litres of milk (that is almost 5 tonnes of milk), 7,590 slices of ice-cream and 1,200 litres of tomato sauce and almost 10 tonnes of fruit juice. All of which had to be distributed to the 70 group campsites scattered around Cataract.
I don’t think I will ever forget the 10 tonnes of fruit juice or 11,000 hamburger buns and 1.5 tonnes of tomato sauce, my back hurt for days. Andrew
